What is your favorite film about love?
Mine I think, is Enchanted April. It's about four women who rent a house in Italy just after World War I. They are escaping the mundane of their London lives and represent different social classes, ages, and marital status (single, widowed, married). In the enchanted beauty of the Italian countryside, each reconnects with what it means to feel love; love with someone they've long been with, love with someone they've just met, and love with others they find as family and can let go of the past. It's a totally gorgeous film to watch given the setting and the time period, the acting is top rate, and the music is well, enchanting. Here's the trailer (ignore the ad after it finishes):
How about you? What's your favorite movie about love? With whomever or however you define it.
My favorite movie about love would have to be "The Notebook". I am kind of a hopeless romantic and I've always wanted something like that for myself ever since I saw that movie. I love how the storyline follows their love story throughout their whole life and it inspires people to follow their hearts, even in the midst of adversity.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite movies about love is "Silver Linings Playbook". If you haven't seen it, it's about two people who are both struggling with mental disorders. Despite everything going wrong in their lives, they find each other and truly improve one another's well-being. I think it's a great, yet emotional story about how strong love it and how your underlying problems can become something of the past when you meet someone you love. My psychology-major self finds it to be so inspiring, knowing what you can overcome without drugs.
ReplyDeleteHow strong love is*
DeleteI am in love with this movie ! ! ! I'm not a huge movie watcher, so I couldn't think of specifically my favorite movie but this one had got to be right at the top. I'm a psych major as well so we probably like it for some of the same reasons (including the fact that Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence are awesome together). I also think it's great to see some sort of representation of mental health in popular media.
DeleteI'm not a huge movie watcher either, so I actually had to google movies Jennifer Lawrence was in to recall the title... haha but I remember actually being awed by that movie which doesn't happen often! But it is definitely a great example of mental health! Shows both sides to it which I love. Thanks for commenting :)

ReplyDeleteI have many favorite movies and like many females, I love the romantic ones as well. One of my all time favorite romantic movies would have to be Titanic. I love the fact that Jack and Rose met and fell in love after a few weeks and when faced with a tragedy were forced but also chose to die for each other. Jack more so than Rose (they could have totally both fit on that floating piece of wood)! The early 1900's was also one of my favorite decades to look back at, which is probably another reason I love the film. The Great Gatsby is also another one of my favorites, both movies have similar story lines because the couples have such different backgrounds but they do not let that get in the way of their connection. They also all have such deep dark pasts and secrets that they seem to connect on and also are helped out of their pasts because of their relationship with one another.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to movies I don't necessarily have a favorite because I like so many, but I would choose the movie The Longest Ride, which is based off a Nicholas Sparks book. The movie follows two love stories. An older man, Ira, and his wife's decades long romance and end, as well as the story of Luke and Sophia, a bull rider and an art enthusiast. Both stories detail the long hard battle of loving someone through the ups and downs of life, but it is always worth it when you really love someone because you find a way to make it work.
ReplyDeleteGoing along with Nicholas Sparks... THE NOTEBOOK IS HANDS DOWN THE GREATEST LOVE STORY OF ALL TIME. I think that it highlights the struggles couples face but also shows the power of fate. It's a movie I always end up crying in. I'm a huge Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams fan, I think they're both fantastic actors and I think it captures emotions that everyone can relate/ has related to before. It's my favorite movie of all time.
ReplyDeleteI love many of these movies already mentioned, but another love movie that I really enjoy is "A Walk To Remember". This love story finds one of the popular, bad boys in school falling in love with a more nerdy girl, who he later finds out is dying from leukemia. While she tries to stop the love from happening, he proves to her that their love cannot be ignored. She ends up passing away, but his love for her remains. It is an epic love story with a very sad twist that makes people reflect on all of the wonderful blessings in their lives.
ReplyDelete"A Walk To Remember" is an amazing love story! The fact that they were friends first and lovers later is much more realistic than a lot of other romance movies. The ending always makes me cry when he talks about how much love their was during their summer of marriage before she passes away.
DeleteI would say that my favorite movie about love is "The Notebook". I didn't watch it until a couple years ago, which is odd because I am not sure why I never wanted it sooner! I think that movie is so cute, and the actors played great roles in the movie and nailed it. I really liked the struggles they went through, how they overcame the obstacles, and how in the end, they still loved each other.
ReplyDeletePersonally for me, I don't really watch romance movies since I much prefer horror movies. However, one of my favorite movie about love is that I recently watched is called, "Tyler Perry's Temptations." The movie is about a couple, Judith and Brice, who's marriage has grown stale. With Judith being a psychotherapist and wanting to purse a career in marriage counseling, she is offered an internship at a matchmaking firm for millionaires and meets Harley, a very charismatic client who eventually makes his way into her heart, jeopardizing her marriage. This was probably one of the only few movie that actually made me tear up towards the end and is definitely a must watch film!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I don't watch very many romantic movies but if I had to choose one it would probably be "Just Go With It" with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. It is actually a pretty funny movie about a plastic surgeon taking his assistant with on a trip to impress others. Over the course of the movie, they stop faking like they love each other and start to develop a relationship that becomes official at the end of the movie. If you're in the mood for something other than your typical love-story, I would definitely recommend it!
